Let sleeping dogs lay

I received an e-mail from Auburn yesterday. I kind of wish that they had just left well enough alone, but on the other hand Auburn was really great through out the whole process of keeping applicants informed. Why should that be any different just because they rejected me already? The beginning of the email is below.

"By this time you will have received notification that you were not being offered an interview for admission to Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. This year we received over 600 applications from non-resident students for our 10-15 positions, in fact you did make the first cut in our process from over 600 to approximately 250 candidates, so the fact that you were not offered does not mean that you are not a good candidate. Hopefully you will receive an offer from your home state or another college of veterinary medicine to which you have applied. However, should you apply for the fall of 2010 we sincerely hope that you will again consider Auburn University."

I'm not sure that knowing that I was better than 350 applicants really makes me feel better. Letting go of this dream would be easier if I could believe I was the least qualified applicant.

In other news, my interview with Ross is March 18th.
